Day 1 – Thursday 26 July 2018 (D) Depart Melbourne – Arrive Sydney
On arrival in Sydney Transfer by shuttle to your hotel which is located only minutes away from Sydney Airport. Relax and enjoy dinner at your hotel. Accommodation: Holiday Inn Sydney or similar
Day 2 – Friday 27 July 2018 (B, D) Depart Sydney 9:50AM Arrive Norfolk 1:20PM /Night as a Convict
Early breakfast at the hotel this morning. The hotel shuttle will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight to Norfolk Island. Passengers departing from Sydney will meet the group at the airport. On arrival on Norfolk you need to collect your checked luggage and clear customs and immigration. Once in the main terminal you will be met by our local ground operator – Pinetree Tours and transferred to the Castaway, which will be your home for the next 7 nights. This boutique hotel has been fully refurbished and is ideally located in a lovely quiet spot just a short walk to the centre of town or a few minutes’ drive to the historic Kingston precinct. Developed from an historic family home, Castaway continues to be family owned and operated with exceptional friendly island hospitality. Enjoy a welcome Tropical fruit cocktail on arrival before checking into your rooms. Tonight is a Night as a Convict. A fun night out for all ages. Dress as a convict and join in with the Commandant for an evening of gaiety, feasting, singing and dancing. Great food and great fun. (Outfits supplied).
Day 3 – Saturday 28 July 2018 (B, D) Half Day Orientation Tour/Dinner at Castaway
Pinetree Tours Half Day Orientation Tour is a must for every visitor. Visit historic Kingston, Cascade, Longridge and much more. See and hear about the famous convict buildings, beautiful beaches and golf course, the renowned Melanesian Chapel, local Government laws and lifestyle. Enjoy views from scenic spots on this full commentary conducted tour. Morning tea is included. Lunch today is own arrangements and the rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner tonight is a 2-course dinner at your hotel.
Day 4 – Sunday 29 July 2018 (B, D) Convict Settlement Tour/Murder Mystery Dinner
Join Pinetree Tours on an in-depth tour of the historic Georgian Settlement of Kingston. Walk through the cemetery and hear the history of interesting convict and colonial headstones and hear stories of the houses along Quality Row. Walk through the ruins of the new gaol; see the Pier Store, boat shed and the crank mill. Afternoon tea is included. For dinner tonight enjoy a 3-course meal fit for the Commandants whilst the mystery unfolds. Meet the Commandant, Clergymen and convicts of this period. True characters from the Second Settlement. Day 5 – Monday 30 July 2018 (B, D) Glass Bottom Boat Tour /’A Little Bit Country’
The morning is at leisure and lunch is own arrangements. Today view beautiful coral gardens and tropical fish inside the calm crystal waters of Norfolk’s lagoon. Your guides provide full and interesting commentary on the environment tour. Tour time will depend on tides. Tonight, after dinner at one of Norfolk’s hotels, your host performs alongside of Graeme Hugo and Fortunato Isgro. You’re all familiar with Rodney and what a great show he does with songs and laughter. You’ll also enjoy Graeme who is one of South Australia’s most hardworking independent artists. He has a great rapport with audiences of all ages and is a real crowd pleaser. You will enjoy his great mix of songs and laughter. And more than a little bit country we have a little bit of wonderful variety from Fortunato Isgro, who is an entertainer from Brisbane renowned for his strong vocals, extensive repertoire and great versatility. Also entertaining us will be the man who has been everywhere – the fabulous Lucky Starr. A great night’s entertainment is assured.
Day 6 – Tuesday 31 July 2018 (B, D) Pitcairn Settlers/Island Fish Fry/Sound and Light Show
Today visit the Pitcairn Settlers Village. On this unique historical tour you will learn about the proud history of the Pitcairn Islanders on Norfolk Island. In the grounds of a beautiful old island homestead stroll through the outbuildings, browse through the museum filled with items of nostalgic and historic interest, see the oldest working forge in the Pacific, look through an ex New Zealand Army hut with war-time memorabilia and watch an exclusive film of Norfolk Island interest. Light refreshments are included. Lunch today is own arrangements and the afternoon is at leisure. Late this afternoon enjoy a feast of Island dishes, salads, homemade bread & fresh fried fish, followed by Island desserts & tea or coffee. Enjoy some local entertainment, on our exclusive private property ‘Orn Daa Cliff’ on Norfolk’s western coastline. After the fish fry this evening is the Sound and Light Show. Nightfall at Kingston brings a different mood to the Convict Settlement. The stillness and the stars are there just as they were before settlers arrived in 1788. With the dramatic use of real life sounds, theatrical lighting and costumed actors, the stillness is broken as Pinetree Tours takes you through the horrifying decades of Norfolk Island’s convict era.
Day 7 – Wednesday 01 August 2018 (B, D) Breakfast Bush Walk/Progressive Dinner
This morning take your choice of a stroll through One Hundred Acres Reserve or for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5km walk through scenic Mt Bates to Captain Cook Monument. If you prefer not to rise early and bush walk you’ll be picked up a little later and taken to join the walkers at Anson Bay as they return from their walk and where you’ll all enjoy a delicious breakfast barbecue on the clifftop. The rest of the day is at leisure and lunch is own arrangements. Tonight enjoy a 3-course meal progressing to different Norfolk Island family homes. A fun night and a great way to meet the local people and sample some of the Island dishes.
Day 8 – Thursday 02 August 2018 (B, D) Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama / ‘A Little Bit of Country – A Bit of Shindig’
Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama is an unforgettable experience. This is one of only a handful of paintings of this type in the world and is based on an art form made popular in the 1800's. Walk inside the circular painting and be surrounded by the immense artwork. A spectacular 3D effect is achieved in this painting with its detailed artwork and realistic perspective and the story that traces the history of the Bounty leaving England through Tahiti, Pitcairn Island and arrival at Norfolk Island in 1856. The rest of the day is at leisure and lunch is own arrangements. Tonight enjoy a second show from your hosts for the week – Graeme, Fortunato, Lucky and Rodney. Firstly dinner at one of Norfolk’s great hotels and then the show will follow.
Day 9 – Friday 03 August 2018 (B) Depart Norfolk 2:30PM – Arrive Sydney 4:25PM /Evening flight to Melbourne
Standard checkout time applies. Pinetree Tours will collect you and transfer you to Norfolk Airport in time for your departure flight. Once in Sydney the Sydney passengers will say goodbye and the Melbourne passengers will catch a connecting flight to Melbourne.
